Check out the video for Mystery Jet’s new single “Dreaming of Another World” from their new album “Serotonin.”  Mystery Jets is an English band that is that has been making some big waves in the UK now for a few years.  Their upcoming 4 month tour includes only 3 dates in the USA however, and I’m sorry to say that if you don’t live in LA or NYC, you’re out of luck.  Check out their new album on iTunes here and visit their official site/blog here to keep a close watch on these guys.

School of Seven Bells (@sviib) is absolutely one of my favorite bands of all time.  The above video, although about a year old, might still be new to you.  ”Half Asleep” is a track from their previous album “Alpinisms” and is a great example of what you can expect to hear from the Brooklyn based trio.  Their dreamy shoegaze guitar-laden synth pop sound evokes a kind of hazy dreamlike state of mind and, for me, all the parts fit together like a sweet sweet puzzle.  I first saw them at the Troubadour in LA as an opening act for Prefuse 73 a few years ago and they’ve been a favorite ever since - so it makes me that much more excited to share that, courtesy of Rolling Stone, you can stream their entire new album “Disconnect From Desire” and get a sneak peek listen before it is released to the masses on July 13th.  If you like what you hear, be sure to catch a live show during the US leg of their tour beginning in August - I know I will.  Take a listen!

Stream the whole album “Disconnect From Desire” via Rolling Stone here and visit their website here.

Music video for LCD Soundsystem’s (@lcdsoundsystem) single “Drunk Girls” from their latest album “This Is Happening.”  The song is definitively LCD Soundsystem - energetic synthy punk that is fun and danceable - exactly what you would expect from the group.  This Spike Jonze directed video has a little bit of everything…from panda costumes, glitter, and confetti - to de-pantsing, egg tossing, and balloons.  Yeah, just watch it.  LCD Soundsystem has remained one of my favorite bands for a while now, and this latest album helps secure their spot.  Download “Drunk Girls” or spring for the whole album via iTunes here.

New video for “I Want You” from the up-and-comer Theophilus London (@theophilusl).  The promo video is a pretty simple black and white hotel room sexcapade, but I’ve gotten in the habit of picking videos instead of simple audio tracks to up the entertainment value as of late, so this post is more about the sounds than the sights.  Theophilus has a really unique sound that I think fits well into what I envision a lot music developing into over the next couple years.  As far as a rapper or vocalist goes, London has a fairly unique sound, though I could see people mistake him for someone like, say, Kid Cudi since he has a similar lyrical delivery, but even that’s a bit of a stretch.   What I think stands Theophilus London apart, however, is the complete package - a little 80’s - a little soul.  The tracks that he works with are really unique and I’m really excited to hear what he can accomplish with his debut album.  Take a listen to his most current mixtape “I WANT YOU” to get a feel for his unique take on music.  Download it for free here and follow what he’s up to through his website over here.

New live music video for The Dead Weather’s “Blue Blood Blues” from their sophomore album “Sea of Cowards.”  This Jack White fronted supergroup has that same sound you’ve grown to expect from anything Mr. White touches - a grungy garage band styled amalgam of guitars, drums, and vocals.  Even though Jack has taken to the drums in this case, the music still has that “ness” - which has proven to not be such a bad thing.  The video expresses the grunge element perfectly w/ black and white grainy footage and pop-art styled effects in a few transitions.  Give it a look, a listen, and “crack a bone” - why not?  You can grab their album from iTunes here.
